Residential and Commercial Building Materials Manufacturer

 

IOU recently developed a solution for a manufacturing customer that is an industry leading manufacturer of residential and commercial building materials, specializing in roofing and shingles production.  Their company has been in business since the early 1980’s with plants across North America and worldwide product distribution.   

 

IOU developed a relationship with them in 2011, when they were experiencing a manufacturing issue with the paper backing process of their shingles production. During the manufacturing process the paper is sent through a dryer, which consists of large drums that are heated with steam and turn on either journal or ball bearings. The problem was two-fold with the system design itself and the lubricant that was being used in the system.  The dryer was designed to flood each bearing with lubricant from a centralized source and drain it back to the reservoir.  The temperatures were reaching 300+ degrees Fahrenheit and the synthetic lubricant being used was rapidly oxidizing into a tar-like substance causing bearings failures from overheating.

 

Accordingly, IOU researched possible solutions and proposed a full system cleanout and recharge with IOU’s Syngear PG.  Syngear PG is a synthetic lubricant designed to provide premium performance in gear boxes, worm gears, bearings, blowers, reciprocating compressors, and hydraulic systems.  It provides better thermal and oxidation stability, as well as, increased protection against viscosity loss.  With an inherently high viscosity index, Syngear PG provides higher operating viscosities and greater film thickness, minimizing wear, and lower viscosities for easy start-up at low temperatures.  The low coefficient of friction exhibited by Syngear PG can substantially reduce power consumption and operating temperatures, which leads to prolonging the useful life of the equipment and lubricant.

 

As of the beginning of 2014, our customer was still running the initial charge of Syngear PG, with minimal top-offs.  The fluid, which was monitored by IOU’s in-house laboratory service, continued to measure as viable for further use.  Our customer reported no new bearings failure and an improved system start-up as a result of our customized solution.

Precast Concrete Manufacturer

 

The powerful combination of our experienced technical team with our state of the art facilities and equipment, including an in-house laboratory, IOU possesses the tools necessary to develop, manufacture, and deliver products of the highest quality.  In May of 2011, IOU developed a relationship with a precast concrete manufacturing customer that has been a leader in designing, manufacturing and installing quality, value-priced precast concrete products since the early 1950’s.  Their experience includes building safe, durable products such as storm shelters, safe rooms, septic tanks, aerobic tanks, grease traps, car wash pits, and many more including special configurations.  They have placed regular, routine orders of IOU’s STIK-PRUF Concrete Form Release Agent (“STIK-PRUF”).  STIK-PRUF is a specially formulated form release agent that is used to prevent the adhesion of freshly placed concrete to the forming surface.  It is environmentally friendly while producing an optimal, stain-free finish and it produces a smooth, white, flat, non-oily surface with a minimum of voids while allowing paints and coatings to easily stick to the concrete surface.

 

Although our customer had been satisfied with our service, product and overall relationship, they were recently tempted with a competitor’s promises of a better form release agent at a reduced rate.  Our technical experts recognized the proven quality of IOU’s STIK-PRUF and responded quickly and efficiently to maintain our customer relationship and prove the quality of our product.  We performed a controlled test which compared the actual performance of STIK-PRUF verses the competitor’s form release agent.

 

The outcome of the test verified the quality of our product and highlighted the performance advantage of STIK-PRUF compared to our competitor’s product.  As a result, we strengthened our relationship with our customer, who remains on the list of IOU’s satisfied customers.
